Greystripe says iPhone Apps for Kids market is booming!

According to Greystripe, a mobile ad network, 29.5% of all iPhone users are “iPhone Moms” which has spawned a new market for iPhone apps for kids. It is no wonder, when there has been an explosion of apps marketed towards Moms from educational apps for kids to apps that help you track feedings, diapers and sleep schedules.

Apple apparently recognizes the importance of iPhone apps for kids because they recently featured a toddler iPhone app in an iPhone commercial. During the week of October 5, 2009, Apple featured 10 iPhone apps for kids on the front page of the iTunes App Store. These apps were included in the “Apps for Toddlers” promotion as “App Store Essentials” on the Homepage of the App Store. There is also a Kids Games category in the App Store and featured iPhone “Apps for Kids” under the Children’s Music category in iTunes.

iPhone apps for kids are quickly giving moms and kids an engaging, educational distraction and alternative to the bagfuls of crayons, wind-up toys, slinkies, and other toys that moms haul around in their already heavy bags. The iPhone mom has been hailed as the new soccer mom and moms need distractions for their kids when they’re waiting in restaurants, on the airplane, or in the doctors office waiting rooms.
